# View and invite users to a Redox organization

> **New release coming soon**
>
> This feature is getting some upgrades. You might see details based on the next release, so some of these changes might not exist in production just yet. Stay tuned for the release!

You can invite a user to join an existing organization in the Redox dashboard. [Learn more about Redox organizations, users and groups](/basics/managing-access-for-your-redox-organization/what-are-redox-organizations-users-and-service-accounts).

## Prerequisites

- A user must be assigned to an <u>**organization owner**</u> or <u>**admin**</u> role to manage users. [Learn more about user roles](/basics/managing-access-for-your-redox-organization/what-are-user-roles-and-groups).

## View users in a Redox organization

Before adding users, you can view any existing users and their accompanying roles in the Redox dashboard.

1. Log in to the dashboard.
2. Click **your username** at the bottom of the navigation menu.
3. From the user menu, select the **Access control** option**.**
4. By default, the <u>Users</u> tab opens with a list of active users and their accompanying <u>organization role</u> and <u>group(s)</u>. [Learn how to manage roles and groups](/how-to-use-redox/manage-your-redox-setup/manage-user-roles-and-groups).

## Invite a user to a Redox organization

Follow these instructions if you don’t use SSO to log in to your Redox organization.

We don’t currently support inviting a user via API.

> **Membership limit**
>
> One user can belong to multiple organizations. There’s a limit, though—which you probably won’t hit. You’ll run into an error if you try adding a user to more than 400 organizations.

1. Follow the steps to view users.
2. Click the **Invite user** button.

> **Not available for SSO organizations**
>
> Remember, this option isn’t available if your Redox organization is SSO-enabled. This is because SSO organizations must add users through their <u>**identity provider**</u> (<u>**IdP**</u>) first, not through the usual invitation process in the Redox dashboard. Refer to the SSO section for more details.

3. A modal opens. Enter the **email address** of the user to add to the organization.
4. (Optional) Under the <u>Groups</u> section, assign the user to an existing **group**. A group grants its defined roles to all of its users.
5. (Optional) Alternatively, under the <u>Roles</u> section, you can assign individual user **organization** and **environment roles**. This grants the selected roles to the user as soon as they log in to Redox the first time.
6. Click the **Invite** button to send the email invitation. The invited user appears in the <u>Users</u> table with a <u>Pending</u> status.

## Accept an invite to a Redox organization

When a user is invited to a Redox organization, they receive an email with an invitation link. Follow these steps to accept the invitation.

1. From the email, click the **Accept** button.
2. The dashboard login page opens.
   1. If you’ve never been part of a Redox organization, [follow the steps to create a Redox dashboard account](/quickstart-for-redox/create-a-redox-dashboard-account).
   2. If you’re an existing Redox user, log in with your Redox account credentials.
3. After logging in, a welcome page appears with the name of the organization. Click the **Accept invitation** button to join the organization.
4. A welcome message appears. Click the **View your dashboard** button to open the Redox organization.

## Add a user to an SSO organization

For SSO-enabled organizations, you must complete steps in both your <u>**identity provider**</u> (<u>**IdP**</u>) and the Redox dashboard. Refer to your identity provider’s docs for managing users in their system.

1. Add a user in your IdP.
2. The user logs into the Redox dashboard. This triggers the membership sync from the IdP to Redox.
3. The user appears in the Redox organization. [Assign or change user role](/how-to-use-redox/manage-your-redox-setup/manage-user-roles-and-groups).
